This painting was created as a fun challenge for Don Yaun’s Facebook group, Plein Air Painters of Lake Lanier. He enjoys painting florals because they allow him the freedom to play with color and design without being overly constrained by realism. Working with cool shadows and warm highlights, along with touches of translucency in some petals, adds depth and life while keeping the overall mood fresh and joyful.
