Don Yaun is a contemporary impressionist painter and plein air artist based in Buford, Georgia. He specializes in expressive landscapes, animals in scenes, floral works, architectural scenes, and historic Southern subjects. His paintings blend on-location studies with studio refinement, creating vibrant, atmospheric works that capture the interplay of light, texture, and the spirit of the Southern landscape.
His art has been featured in prestigious publications, including AcrylicWorks: Best of Acrylics (four consecutive years), Artist Magazine, International Artist, Modern Impressionist Magazine, and National Oil & Acrylics.
Notable exhibitions include the MCMA Metro Montage (four years), the Art of Georgia State Capitol Exhibition (three years), Chastain Art Center, Fulton County’s Chasing the Light, Norcross Gallery, and Tannery Row (seven events). He has presented solo exhibitions at the Hazlehurst–Jeff Davis Historical Museum and will open a major 35-painting solo exhibition at the Okefenokee Heritage Center in August 2026.
A 1977 graduate of Ringling College of Art & Design, Don met his wife Debra while attending the college. They married in December of that same year. Debra is a well-established artist known for her many published instructional art books. After graduation, Don enjoyed a successful career in design, illustration, and photography before retiring in 2020 to pursue fine art full-time. He creates original paintings and handcrafted custom frames, many made from hardwoods harvested on his own property, while continuing to build a strong body of plein air studies.
