Studio acrylic house portrait "Susan Clark Home" by Georgia artist Don Yaun, depicting a stately red-brick home with white columns, brick driveway, and warm late-afternoon light in Waycross

Susan Clark Home is a stately studio acrylic house portrait that captures the graceful elegance of a historic residence in Waycross, Georgia. This 36″ × 24″ painting was inspired during preparations for Don Yaun’s upcoming one-man exhibition at the Okefenokee Heritage Center in August 2026. While touring potential subjects for paintings to display with Bob Brown, the Art Gallery Director, they choose this beautiful home. Don had met Susan Clark in the early 1970s while researching trains and depots for a project. Her kindness and deep knowledge as a historian left a lasting impression. Choosing this angle allowed the home’s classic architecture, tall white columns, and welcoming presence to shine.

The late afternoon sun casts warm golden light across the red brick facade and brick driveway, while cool shadows add depth and contrast. Tall pines frame the scene, and the American and Georgia flags fly proudly at the entrance, with soft light glowing from the doorway—creating an inviting, timeless Southern atmosphere.
