Bio

Don Yaun is a contemporary impressionistic painter and plein air artist based in Buford, Georgia, specializing in expressive acrylic landscapes, animal paintings, floral art, architectural scenes, and historic Southern subjects. His work blends on‑location studies with studio refinement, resulting in vibrant, atmospheric paintings that celebrate light, texture, and the natural world.

Don’s creative process often begins with photography captured during travels or walks through the hardwoods of his Hall County property. These moments become the foundation for paintings that reflect decades of artistic observation and a lifelong connection to nature. His work has appeared in leading art publications and exhibitions, including AcrylicWorks, Artist Magazine, International Artist, Modern Impressionist Magazine, National Oil & Acrylics, MCMA Metro Montage, and the Art of Georgia State Capitol Exhibit.

After graduating from Ringling College of Art & Design in 1977, Don built a career in design and photography before returning to painting full‑time in 2020. Today he creates original artwork, custom frames crafted from locally harvested wood, and a growing body of plein air studies that capture the spirit of the Southern landscape.

Rooted in the belief that “You are limited only by your imagination,” Don continues to explore new ways of expressing mood, movement, and storytelling through acrylic paint.
