Costa Rica Farm Sunset

My wife and I vacationed in Costa Rica in December of 2017. One of the destinations was Monteverde where we stayed at the Hotel Belmar. We selected a few tours to go on but at the last minute, one was cancelled. We made a last minute choice to go on the Hotels farm tour. We had no clue the impact this excursion would make on our vacation.
Madre Tierra (the farm) is owned by the proprietor of the hotel and is a source of food for its restaurant. We had a private tour in the afternoon with a dedicated guide who was also our driver. As we traveled the countryside, I could tell this was going to be special. We passed through the gate of the farm and approached the barn where there was a lady with a beautiful smile greeting us as she saddled up our horses for a ride. As we rode the horses, we approached an overlook that was simply breath taking and when I realized it was facing the Southwest, I knew this was the spot I wanted to be at sunset.
We made our way back to the barn for an excellent typical farm hand meal that included coffee grown on the farm and fresh eggs. It was a very pleasant experience to eat our meal as we looked out over the farm from a covered deck on the upper level of the barn.
After a short walking tour of the farm, animals and milking a cow, we jumped back into our Land Rover and made our way back to the sunset location. We rounded a turn and started nearing the spot I wanted to be and a warm glow of golden light started to appear. I knew this was going to be a special moment. I frantically readied my tripod and camera and burst out of the car and set up the camera. The timing was late and I rushed to set up but the results was perfect for what I wanted to capture. The photos and the memories of this spot are etched in my mind for ever.
Our guide later informed us that the lady saddling up our horses and showing us around the barn was the owner of Hotel Bellmar. What a wonderful lady, Can’t remember her name but I thank her for making our trip unforgettable!
This painting will always be special to me.
Pretty excited about this. Received my first ribbon ever at the Tannery Row Summer Serendipity art show in Buford, GA.
It’s an honorable mention and I was pleased just to get it accepted in the show.
