Our Driveway in the Fall is the vibrant second painting in Don Yaun’s intimate three-season (now expanded to Homestead) series, capturing the spectacular rear-lit autumn display along the 450-foot gravel driveway of his 11½-acre wooded homestead in Buford, Georgia. Created as a plein air work in 2024, this 18″ × 24″ impressionistic acrylic celebrates the towering oaks, dogwoods, and beech trees that form a majestic canopy overhead. Afternoon sunlight filters through the foliage, igniting brilliant fall reds, oranges, and golds against lingering green leaves on tall white oaks. Distant trees recede into cool grays and purples as the blue sky diffuses through the upper branches, while the winding driveway opens through a wooden fence, inviting the viewer deeper into this peaceful, shaded sanctuary.
This scene is Don’s “happy spot”—a timeless memory of the homestead he’s shared with his wife since the early 1980s, where the seasonal transformation of light and color never fails to inspire.
